Carrying out Anne’s legacy through her passion for horses, adventure, and serving others.

Anne Elizabeth McComb Swaney was an avid horsewoman from the time she was a girl in Platte City, Missouri. When she wasn’t working as Executive Producer of Online Operations at ABC-7 in Chicago, Anne continued to pursue her passion for horses as an adult. She regularly rode her horse Sequoia near Chicago, and traveled worldwide for horseback riding adventures.

Anne was a victim of a homicide while one a horseback riding trip in Belize in 2016. Her friends and family established the non-profit to share the happiness and healing Anne found in horses with those in need.

OUR MISSION

Legacy Equine-Assisted Services NFP (formerly The Anne Elizabeth McComb Swaney Foundation) provides equine-assisted services and direct financial assistance for therapeutic activities in the Chicagoland area. Our goal is to improve the lives of people experiencing challenges, whether physical, developmental, mental or emotional, through therapies and activities incorporating horses in a safe, supportive and accessible environment.

Examples of financial assistance include scholarships for Legacy Ranch services for children and adults with special needs, care for our therapeutic herd of horses, maintenance of The Legacy Ranch therapeutic facility, needed therapeutic equipment, and training for individuals pursuing a path in equine-assisted therapy.
